About BreedCovered
Pet insurance is priced by breed, but marketed by averages. "Plans from $10/month" means a young mixed-breed cat in a low-cost ZIP — not a French Bulldog in Brooklyn, whose typical published band runs several times that. Meanwhile the decisions that actually determine whether a claim pays — waiting-period classes, deductible structures, curable-pre-existing pathways — live in policy documents most shoppers never open.
BreedCovered is built around two databases: typical published premium bands for 16 breed classes, and normalized policy mechanics for 8 insurers. Every estimate, shortlist, and matrix cell is computed from those databases with documented weights — so when a published class changes, every answer updates with it.
Two rules govern everything here. Bands, not quotes: every premium figure is a typical published band, and only insurers can quote your pet. No medical advice: conditions appear only as coverage-mechanics framing — questions about your pet's health belong with your veterinarian.
BreedCovered is a free service that matches pet owners with insurance providers. We may be compensated by those providers for quote referrals, and your request may be shared with them when you ask for quotes — disclosed on every page it applies, and firewalled from scoring. We are not an insurer, agent, or broker; policy documents govern. Corrections or a breed you want on file? Get in touch.
